How To Extend The Life of Your Temporary Tattoo

One of the most common questions we get asked is "How do I make my temporary tattoo last longer". While tattoos can react differently to various skin types and climates, there are a few things that you can do to keep that tattoo looking good as long as possible.

Site preparation

The tattoo is only as good as it's initial bond. Excessive oil and dirt buildup on the skin can significantly reduce the life of your temporary tattoo. Clean the area where the tattoo is to go with soap and water. A gentle skin exfoliant to remove any dead skin is recommended but a washcloth will also do in it's place.

Watch the Hair

Avoid applying tattoos to overly hairy areas. Hair can hinder the adhesive from forming a solid bond with the skin. I wouldn't go as far as shaving the intended area but as a general rule of thumb try to avoid hairy areas.

Sweat the small stuff

Timing can be key. Don't apply your tattoo before a workout or any period of physical exertion. Perspiration can significantly reduce your tattoos lifespan. Large amounts of sweat have a tendency to work the adhesive loose and start premature flaking of your tattoo.

Placement

This might seem like a no brainer but avoid placing your tattoos on areas of the skin that crease (Joints) or experience high amounts of friction. Elbows, bottoms of feet, and inner arms.
